Smart Thermostats and Smart Radiator Valves Can Cut Bills by 31-40%

Smart thermostat

Among the practical options to reduce heating bills for households, installing a combination of smart thermostat and smart radiator valves represent a cost-effective upgrade to a gas or oil-fired central heating system that can pay back within a few months. I am really pleased to be working with Rob Hutchins to provide an affordable smart thermostat professional installation service across Cambridgeshire to help people significantly reduce their heating bills.

I’ve written the guide below to explain what this smart technology is and what it can do:

Smart Thermostats and Smart Radiator Valves Can Reduce Heating Bills by 31 to 40% and Cut Harmful Emissions

Smart thermostats introduce new capabilities over a traditional central heating thermostat to provide much more control and convenience. Rather than having a central thermostat set at the same temperature all the time, a smart thermostat allows you to significantly reduce heating costs by eliminating unnecessary overheating of homes by:

  • setting temperatures that minimise heating use but are still comfortable for occupants (through smart learning)
  • reducing heating use when no-one is at home
  • setting different target temperatures at different times of the day
  • providing remote control through a mobile app (allowing users to control their heating when away from their home or when they are at work).

Adding smart radiator valves substantially improves the performance of a smart thermostat by providing control of individual rooms. Out to 2030 and beyond, energy prices are expected to remain at about three times their five-year pre-2021 historic average. Over this period, smart radiator valves would represent an extremely profitable home improvement, with savings many times their initial costs.

Rob has extensive experience of installing the leading smart thermostat models, from Nest (Google), Tado and Hive.  For more information about our affordable, county-wide installation service, visit:
