The Sony 100-400mm GM lens has quickly become one of my very favourite lenses, and in this post I provide some sample images taken in the last few weeks with this superlative lens. Paired with the Sony A1 camera, its amazing autofocus performance means that you can capture fast action easily, and sharpness is superb. While the lens is relatively large, it’s is not ridiculously heavy at 1395g and so can be hand held easily. To put the weight into context, when I had Canon equipment, my favourite lens was the Canon EF 70-200mm F2.8 IS III lens. This weighs 1480g, which is actually heavier than the Sony 100-400mm GM lens. Whatever the lens has been used for – whether this is the Silverstone Grand Prix, capturing wildlife or photographing aircraft – it has never let me down.
