To say 2020 has been a challenging year for Spotlight Productions is an understatement. Their 2020 production of ‘Oliver the Musical’, scheduled for April 2020, had to be cancelled, much to the disappointment of the young people taking part and their families. At the time, there was an expectation/hope that things would be back to normal by the end of the year, allowing Oliver to delight packed audiences in April 2021. Early in the year, I’m not sure many people […] . Click here to read the full article.
The last few months have been very frustrating for Graham and Sarah Wilkinson and all the team at Spotlight Productions. They have had to cancel their annual show – ‘Oliver!’ – and income from their costume and scenery hiring ‘business’ used to fund their annual show has been decimated. Being the positive people they are, the unexpected lull has provided an opportunity to plan ahead and reshape Spotlight for the future. I’ve been really enjoying our regular Zoom and Skype […] . I really enjoy working with Graham and Sarah Wilkinson (below) at Spotlight Productions – which is a youth musical theatre group based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. I’ve now taken photos of several productions. Graham and Sarah are an inspiration and have made such a difference to young people in the area. To date, they have put on 16 major shows to sell-out audiences, with over 1600 young people performing in these shows. Several performers have written to me to express how […] . The month of March is very busy for my friends Graham and Sarah Wilkinson as they prepare to put on their annual musical at the Performing Arts Centre (PAC) at Hinchingbrooke School. My daughter Rebecca and I popped in to video some of the rehearsals for ‘Grease The Musical’ using three matched Sony 4k cameras. Two group numbers are shown below: ‘We Go Together’ and ‘Summer Nights’. Given my past experience of the dingy, yellowy lighting of the PAC (shown […] . Click here to read the full article.
I used the opportunity of a Spotlight Productions dress rehearsal for Sister Act to try to record video. To be honest, it was not the most successful venture. Extra lights had been brought in to supplement those in the Performing Arts Centre. Unfortunately, these were not to broadcast standard and caused flicker that ruined the vast majority of the footage. I managed to rescue enough footage to create a ‘highlights’ video with a backing track and I was pleased with […] . Click here to read the full article.
I had such grand ambitions for videoing the dress rehearsal of Sister Act by Spotlight Productions. In hindsight, these were totally unrealistic. After photographing the shows for several years, I felt quite confident with photography so video provided a new challenge. I knew my set-up was not optimum at the time, as I was using three different 4k cameras (from different manufacturers). My daughters were there to help operate the cameras. I was not to know that extra lights had […] . Click here to read the full article.
I was delighted to photograph the dress rehearsal of Sister Act by Spotlight Productions, helped by my two daughters. After seeing the West End version of Sister Act, which I remember being distinctly unmemorable, I was rather apprehensive about the show. However, I was completely taken aback about how good the Spotlight version was. I actually much preferred it to the West End version. I think it was the best Spotlight production I have seen. As you can hopefully see […] . Click here to read the full article.
In order to produce some interesting publicity photos for the production of Sister Act by Spotlight Productions, we decided that it would look great to have photos taken in a real church. Spaldwick Church was the venue for a photoshoot with the Sister Act cast, and I think the photos certainly add character. My daughter Bethany I enjoyed photographing the dress rehearsal of Legally Blonde by youth musical theatre group Spotlight Productions. I’m not sure if I should admit this or not but I really love the 2001 film Legally Blonde with Reese Witherspoon, and so I was really looking forward to the Spotlight Productions version. It was a great production. View all the photos here: Legally Blonde Photo Gallery Other pages you may be interested in: Other Posts About Spotlight Productions . Click here to read the full article.

I was having a conversation with Chris Abington, and he mentioned that he was drummer in Les Misérables being put on by a local youth musical theatre group based in Huntingdon called Spotlight Productions. I wondered if they would be interested in me taking photos and I got in touch with Graham and Sarah Wilkinson. That was the start of a long-term relationship with Spotlight and friendship with Graham and Sarah. I took photographs of the dress rehearsal with my […] . Click here to read the full article.
